The Heart of Sports Beats Stronger in Budapest

The very best of the UEFA Champions League, along with stars like Usain Bolt and Armand Duplantis, will once again shine in Budapest. Sport shaped my entire life. It has given me discipline, resilience, and direction, and through sports journalism, I have had the privilege of meeting people I have always looked up to.

It has given me discipline, resilience, and direction, and through sports journalism, I have had the privilege of meeting people I have always looked up to.
Today, I feel especially grateful to live in a country surrounded by passionate fans. In Hungary, sport is understood, respected, and loved with genuine emotion. That is why the world’s greatest athletes always feel something special when they come here.

Over the past decade, Hungary has hosted nearly thirty World and European Championships in Olympic sports. We welcomed matches during UEFA EURO 2020, hosted a Europa League final, and now we are preparing for one of football’s greatest occasions, the UEFA Champions League Final on May 30, 2026.

Global Recognition and Sporting Influence

I had the honor of attending the UEFA Champions League trophy dinner at the iconic Puskás Aréna.
Many of you will remember the 83rd AIPS Congress in February 2020, especially the AIPS penalty shootout, where colleagues took part with great enthusiasm and created unforgettable moments.
But it is not only football that has captured hearts here.
At the recent Sport4All and All4Sport Conference, I had the opportunity to present myself as an AIPS presidential candidate among some of the most influential figures in world sport.
Marius Vizer, President of the International Judo Federation, chose Budapest as the home of his organization, recognizing its unique strengths.

Husain Al Musallam, President of World Aquatics, made the same decision, helping turn Budapest into a global hub for aquatic sports.
Sebastian Coe, who almost feels at home here, has said many times that the 2023 World Championships in Budapest were among the best ever.

It was also a privilege to meet Sunil Sabharwal, President of the International Fair Play Committee, who truly represents fairness and integrity in sport and in our profession.
I was equally pleased to meet Balázs Fürjes, Hungary’s IOC member, whose work continues to strengthen Hungary’s role in the Olympic movement.

Budapest - is the city of sports fanatics
|
Budapest is a place where sports, tradition, and ambition meet, creating an atmosphere that continues to inspire both athletes and fans around the world.
What we have built over the years is not only a series of successful events, but a lasting reputation built on passion, trust, and excellence.
I am honored to represent this spirit, and to carry it forward in my journey within the international sports journalist community. Because in the end this is what unites us. AIPS must never be divided, we are connected by our shared passion for sport and for our profession.
