Dear Colleagues,
On April 8th, the Hungarian Sports Journalists' Association hosted The PlAIn Truth 2026 conference in Budapest. The event brought together some of the sharpest minds in our profession to explore one of its most pressing questions: what does artificial intelligence mean for sports journalism? The timing could not have been more fitting. AI is no longer a distant prospect. It is already part of how we work, every single day.
Participants arrived from three continents, and many more followed the proceedings online. A clear sign of just how urgently our profession needs this conversation. Thoughtful presentations, pointed questions, honest debate. Exactly the kind of gathering sports journalism needs right now.

A message from the conference

A video message was recorded at the conference, in which I share my thoughts on the challenges facing our profession and on my candidacy for the AIPS presidency. The trust shown by the Hungarian Sports Journalists' Association in supporting my run means a great deal to me. It is a responsibility I carry with pride.

Artificial intelligence is perhaps one of the greatest achievements of our time and, at the same time, one of the most significant professional challenges we face. I do not believe it will take our jobs. But we must understand it. It is a tool we need to learn to live with, to use wisely, while preserving what makes sports journalism irreplaceable: the human element. That is what made this conference so special. Colleagues from three continents came together because they sense the importance of this shift, because they think about the future as a community.
I have since travelled to Switzerland, where the full AIPS community has gathered, and I brought the energy of that day with me. With fifty years of experience in sport, as an Olympic athlete and as a sports journalist, I believe I have what it takes to lead this community into a new era. I am deeply grateful to every supporter and partner who has placed their trust in me and in this candidacy.

I Am Counting on You April 12th

The conference, the conversations, the people: all of it has reinforced my belief that I am on the right path. The future of sports journalism is a shared cause, and I believe AIPS can do something it has never fully done before: truly represent everyone committed to this profession, wherever in the world they may be. My full presidential programme is available at csisztu.com. The vote takes place on April 12th, and your support means everything.
